Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker:

I find it hard to express in words the love and gratitude that I have for you. The many kind notes and best wishes for me were overwhelming. I could not have imagined a better last weekend for any priest in any parish.

My family is extremely grateful for the many kindnesses shown them and they had an absolutely wonderful time. My father was so happy to meet so many parishioners and it is a memory that he will always have. Mary and Casey (my nieces) truly enjoyed themselves, especially the dancing. Patrick said he never has had so many kisses in all of his life. Your caring for my family meant the world to me and it is a memory that I will always share with them.

The final masses were so beautiful. The music, the décor and the receptions were just wonderful. I appreciate that so many came to the parish receptions. The event at the Four Columns after the day of my ordination was the best day of my life. I was stunned at the number of people who attended and it was a great party. For all of you who worked on the celebration I am so grateful. I want to thank Clark Knighten and his band for the music at the public reception, and those who worked with him for the CD that was created and dedicated to me.

The memory that I take from the last weekend in the parish was one of true joy and happiness. I don’t know what more you could have done to make the weekend any better. I knew that leaving St. Joseph the Worker would be difficult but you made it so much easier by the love that I felt from all of you.

My years at St. Joseph the Worker were the best years of my priesthood and I know that I will never have another parish like it. I will have countless memories and these will sustain me through the rest of my life. Finally you saw me do something that many thought they would never see me do - dance. You know that I was having a good time if I danced.

I just want you to know that I am grateful for all that you have done for me and know that I will never forget you. I will always remember you as the greatest blessing God has given me in my ministry. When I came through the front door of St. Joseph the worker, I expected a blessing and I received it.

May God bless you and all of your families.

In Christ’s Love,

Fr. Paul
